About the author

hankThanks for stopping by my site. I am a senior web designer from Sydney, Australia currently living and working in London. My work mainly revolves around user experience design for the web. I try to balance visual beauty, usability and functionality in my work. At the core of this is a strong communication focus and enabling the user to achieve their goals in the simplest fashion. In general, I have a strong appreciation for great looking design that works, and aim for simple elegance in my work.

After traveling through Asia, the US, Central America and South America, I am now working in London to broaden my horizons a little (and see a bit of Europe while I’m at it). I am currently working as a senior designer at Snow Valley, working on large e-commerce websites.

Outside of work I’m into music, games (of all kinds), hanging out with mates and a bit of travel. I also still tend to think about web and techy stuff outside of work… (geek!). Update: As of late December 2006, I’m a PADI certified Open Water scuba diver. Yay!

You can reach me at hank [at] henrytapia.com or on Twitter.

About this site

hankensteinThis is the 2nd edition of Gradient Dropshadow Curve, the weblog of Henry Tapia, and the 3rd design of HenryTapia.com.

Gradient Dropshadow Curve uses a concoction of Wordpress 2.0.3, K2 and 3 column K2, with a lot of modding of my own.

I am using various plugins for Wordpress to enhance the site, including: Custom Query String, FlickrRSS, Favatars, Geo, Plug ‘n’ Play Google Maps and of course Akismet to take care of spam. I even wrote a plugin of my own for the welcome message on the home page (I’ll link it when I have time to document it properly).

This site should be 100% valid XHTML 1.0 (Transitional). I try to make sure this is always the case, but if there are any errors, please get in touch.

The “hankenstein” illustration (above) I’ve used from place to place was a gift given to me by my good friend and colleague Anton.

I don’t really like to use the word “colophon“… but that’s just me.
